Hello, my name is Kaitlynn Moore. As a kid I was active in multiple sports, but I never fell in love with a sport. However, that all changed when I started running for my high school's cross country and track team my freshman year. Ever since my first race I knew this sport was something I wanted to pursue. I enjoy every moment, the hard workouts, the nervousness before a race, and the post-race accomplishments. This sport has taught me a lot about who I am as a person and as a teammate, the journey has not been easy, but it has made me the athlete I am today.
As a freshman I broke two school records, one in the 5k for cross country running a 20:28 and the 3200 meters in track running a 12:56. Since then, I have improved both times and during my junior year of track broke the school record for the 1600 meters. My current PRs are: 5k- 19:44 XC, 3200m- 12:06 track, and 1600m- 5:31 track. During my summer training before my 2023 cross-country season, I ran a mile-time trial in 5:34, which boosted my confidence as it showed my training has been paying off. However, it has been hard during my cross country seasons, as I do not have girls to run or pace with. I have been training and racing alone. This is particularly hard because I do not have people who can push me during workouts or races. I am looking for a college that has a strong team comradery with girls who can push me to the next level. I want to run in college because this sport brings me so much happiness and I want to be able to experience the team aspect of this sport and help the team to achieve their goals. I have the mindset to never give up on my goals no matter the difficulties I face.
Academically, I strive to receive the best grades possible. I am in the top 10% of my graduating class and ranked 8th with a weighted GPA of 5.300. I am in the Cambridge AICE program and am on track to receive the Bright Futures Scholarship after my junior year of high school. Additionally, I am in dual enrollment, taking college level classes, working towards receiving my AA in health science by 2025. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me!
