Hi! My name is Janine Gabrielle Horst and I am a junior at the Westminster Schools in Atlanta, Georgia. I am very active and participate in many activities and sports, but I also am a hard worker and am ready to take on any challenge thrown in front of me. My main focus is Track and Field, which is what I want to do in college, especially competing high jump. I believe as an athlete, trying new things and overcoming obstacles is a huge part of human growth, especially during the transition from high school to college. I have been competing in high jump since the 8th grade and have learned to love the event. I have dreamed to go to school for high jump and with the right amount of guidance and commitment, I believe I can reach that level. I always listen and very coachable; I constantly work to improve my sport through training inside and outside school whether weight training, stretching, running, etc. In freshman year, I placed first in High Jump for Westminster and was the highest freshman jumper, and won 9th/10th grade certificate award even though we had a short season. During my sophomore year, I had a personal undefeated season in High Jump including meets and invitationals (placed first for Westminster), qualified and placed 3rd at Region, 5th at Sectionals, and top 8 at State. I was the highest high jumper for girls at Westminster (5’4 PR) and ranked in state and nationally. I also won top 10 Westminster record award. Both years, I have lettered. In 2022, my team won region, sectionals, and state for both girls and boys. At region and sectionals, I placed 2nd in high jump and at state, I placed 4th in the state. I also qualified and competed in the Wingfoot Night of Champions Meet. So far for our 2023 season, I have qualified and competed at the FSU Relays.
