Hello, my name is Jordyn Perkins. I am 16 years of age and currently a upcoming junior honor student athlete at Lee County High School in Leesburg, GA. I have always been a multi-sport athlete – including soccer, basketball and volleyball. However, as a freshman, I competed in Varsity Track and Field along with USATF Jr. Olympics for the first time. The successes I achieved as well as lessons learned have fueled my dreams and passion to compete at the collegiate level. It is my desire to compete against the most talented athletes while pursuing my academic goals. In addition to achieving my degree(s) in the medical field as a Plastic Surgeon and establishing my own medical practice, I intend to lead my college of choice to at least one NCAA Track & Field Championship.
While other sports have taught me the value of team effort, perseverance, and hard work, Track & Field has been more impactful. It has made me realize more than ever that I am accountable for my actions, decisions and most importantly my destiny. I feel that my purpose is to inspire others. I want to show young girls that you can excel in both academics and athletics while embracing your own femininity yet respecting others choices. My parents have taught me to dream big, manage distractions and never let anyone out work you.
I believe that I am a great candidate for your team and school because of my commitment to excellence. I am a coachable athlete, who knows when to lead and when to follow, poses mental toughness, a student of the sport, resilient, competitive, fun, and a difference maker.
What makes me different from others in terms of my character, athletics, and academics is that I realize success at any level along with most things in life is a choice. Even if that choice may seem like doing the impossible to achieve a goal. My parents have taught me to be confident in who I am and what my beliefs are while appreciating the differences in other. More importantly, talent alone won’t make me successful but my willingness to outwork my competition. My relationship with God, my family and academics are my priorities – Track & Field is my life’s passion. I look forward to learning more about you, your coaching staff, program and school. I am excited about this process and the opportunity to fulfill my dreams.
Regards,
Jordyn A. Perkins
