My goals for college are to graduate with a bachelor's degree in education. It is my dream to become a teacher and help the younger generations on their journeys. Along with my academic goals, I would also like track and field to be a big focus in my college experience. I think I would be an excellent candidate for this program because I am extremely passionate and competitive about anything I do, especially track. I have always enjoyed running and this sport gives me something to focus my energy and love for running on. I believe I stand out from other possible candidates is how I can learn from my mistakes, how I am always striving to improve, and how I can take criticism and use it to achieve my goals. An example of these traits is from my very first region meet in 2021. I was the number one in the 8-AA region and had high expectations not only from my own coaches and peers, but from the other teams as well. During the preliminary run for the 100 meter high hurdles, I was in the lead then around the 4th hurdle I took a hard fall. Without thinking, I got back up and continued my race till the finish. At first, thinking I hadn't made it to finals, I was devastated, however, I later learned I had barely made the cut. I ended up becoming the 8-AA region champion despite my mistake. I have fallen many times before, and given up on the race, but this race made realize that I should never give up. I have learned from my failures and now I always finish the race no mater what. I also endeavor to achieve all of my academic goals. I have taken several AP classes and am currently taking dual enrollment college courses at Young Harris as well. Thank you so much for your consideration!
