For as long as I can remember, it has always been my dream to play sports at a collegiate level. At the age of 5, I picked up my first baseball bat, and that has led to a 12 year journey of playing sports such as baseball, softball, competitive swimming, basketball, and track and field. Throughout my high school years, I have come to realize that balance is very important when it comes to athletics and academics. I was fortunate to be a part of a state championship winning team for softball in my freshman year, and that was an amazing experience. However, because I wanted to focus on academics, I made the difficult decision to leave softball and go back to swimming, a sport that love just as much. This gave me more time to devote to taking rigorous courses and maintaining my GPA.
This past spring, I decided to try discus in track and field for the first time. I surprised myself, my coaches, my family, and my school in becoming the ILH league champion. I give credit to the Lord, my coaches, and all the years of experience as an athlete that led me to this success. I look forward to the opportunity to perfect my skills at the collegiate level, and I hope to work with coaches and training staff that will assist me to become the best student athlete that I can be.
