Track and field has always interested me since I was little. My mom participated in track and was very successful until she was diagnosed with cancer cutting her track career short. This kind of lit the fire for my track passion, I wanted to be successful and to follow in my mom's footsteps. She was the person who got me interested in the sport, and to this day pushes me to be the best I can be on and off the track. This sport not only has taught me how to be a better athlete but also a better friend, person, and member of the community. Throughout the years of track, I have met some people who I will forever be thankful for, and are not only my teammates but also my family.
Track and field has taught me to be humble, I have had my share of hard meets, and races but they only push me to train harder to work harder and to learn from my mistakes. I took those mistakes and those races and learned from them, and applied them to my next races. I think I grew the most as an athlete and a person when I made it to state as a sophomore, I knew the competition would be tough but I set goals and didn't let myself fall to the competition. In that meet, I received major PR's and made irreplaceable memories with my team. Losing is a hard concept to accept, but it depends on how you take the loss, whether you take it and run with it or you let it defeat you. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but also the dedication, the character, the work ethic, and the leadership to make an impact on your program.
