Sports are such an important part of my life, it’s the time where I can focus and not be distracted. I enjoy setting goals and pushing myself to achieve them. I strongly believe that you do not know what your limits are, what you can really achieve, until you push yourself beyond what is comfortable and what you have achieved before. My dream is to continue playing sports at a collegiate level.
I started running at age 12, at the start of my 7th grade year. That year, after 3 months of running, I made it to state in cross country and finished in 31st place out of 232 runners. That got me excited, so I started training more consistently and by spring, I made it to state for track and field and placed 6th in the 1600m. I continued training over the summer and that fall I placed 3rd (out of 236 runners) in state for cross country and in the spring placed 4th in the state for the 1600m and 7th for the 800m. I was recognized by my school as the “Athlete of the Year”.
As I start my freshman year of high school, I am excited be the top runner of the varsity team. My goals this year are to continue to build upon the success of middle school. In addition to improving my times and gaining experience at the 3-mile distance, I want to be seen as a good leader.
I have been playing tennis since I was 4 years old and started competing in USTA and UTR competitions at age 8. Since tennis and cross country are the same season, I am currently playing tennis at the club level and have a UTR of 4.71. Last winter, I was invited to train at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Spain. It was incredible to be at a facility that trains that level of professional athletes.
Within the classroom, I have maintained a high GPA and was on the principles list every quarter 6-8th grade and I am currently an honor student in high school.
I also volunteer and received the Presidential Service Award for completing over 100 hours of service in one year. I actively volunteer at my church and throughout my community.
I am open to all opportunities where I can excel both in the classroom and competitively within sports.
