I am from a very small town of 739, in a graduating class of 11. Our three school sports co-op does not have a track facility. We practice on the parking lot for blocks, which is quite limited. Our "track" that we run on is gravel. My regret is that I did not pursue club track. I am involved in many activities and sports. Quite honestly, I did not realize that I could grow to love track and improve as much as I have in the last two years. Last year, I began lifting to get stronger and shaved 1 full second from my 100 m dash. In 11th grade, I only ran the 200 m twice and the second time I ran was at the sectionals where I qualified for State. I have never had a head coach that actually participated in track. I know that I am nowhere near my peak. I am eager to learn better techniques (especially coming out of the blocks) and to build strength to continue to improve. I am very excited to be coached to my potential.
