Running has always been one of the things that gave me joy. The feeling of stepping foot on a track excites me. I first realized I wanted to run track in middle school after doing cross country for one year. Soon after I realized I was fast and good at it. Then I started training/running track in 5th grade and have been doing so throughout my high school years.
Some of the events I do is the 100m, 200m, 4x100,4x200 relays, and long jump. My favorite events are the 200m dash and the relays, because I love the feeling of running the curve of a 200m as well as the team atmosphere in the relay events. Overall, my best event to date is the 200m dash with a PR of 27secs. All the years of running track I have learned that hard work pays off, you have to be discipline, and team work is important. I think I'm most committed to running because it builds character, and forces me to push myself.
On the track it's you vs. yourself most of the time so going up against the stop watch not only challenges me to do my best it thrills me as well. I plan to build on what I've learned in high school as I transition to running track & field at the collegiate level. My future goal is to attend a college that will push me to be a better student and athlete. I hope to be a great role model for my younger brother and make my parents proud.
