I am a 300m and 100m hurdler interested in running track in college. I began running in elementary school, and I was a 100m and 400m sprinter in middle school. I participated in preseason training as a freshman in high school, but then my track season was cancelled due to COVID. I was looking to improve for the upcoming track season so I took my coach’s advice to run cross-country as a sophomore to maintain my conditioning.
In spring of my sophomore year, my track coach recruited me to try hurdles. He thought I had potential as a 300m hurdler since I ran cross country, had fast sprinting times, and had hit a growth spurt over the past year. I loved my first season running hurdles, and I cannot imagine running any other event!! I look forward to improving my form and race times with additional experience and coaching. I currently run year-round including summer and winter, and I rarely miss even the optional practices. I am very driven, resilient, reliable, and ambitious. I always push myself to improve at anything to which I commit on the field or in the classroom. Aside from running track and cross-country, I have played club soccer and basketball.
I’m looking for a school with strong academics and a good athletic experience where I can contribute to my team. I work hard to maintain a high GPA while taking challenging honors courses, participating in sports, and still leaving time for balance in my life. I am looking for a school that will allow me to continue this balance and grow on and off the athletic field. I would prefer to stay in the Midwest but am open to great opportunities anywhere.
When I’m not running or studying, I enjoy watching and playing sports, baking, shopping, and listening to music.
