4/19/2021: I have committed and signed a Letter of Intent. Very hard to choose and I was blessed with several excellent choices. Thanks, Emma
1) I am training to become a Multis Athlete in college. I am confident I have the skills and gifts to do so.
2) My family and I hired a personal coach (former College coach) to help me improve. Without a Spring track season and unable to attend camps, then we thought this was the best way to improve. Shorter-term goals will be a 200 less than 27 and Long Jump over 16. The Coach is confident that is coming after I get farther into the training plan. Excited!!
3) I have had several calls and emails with colleges and its been interesting. I have 3 campus visits booked and working on a few more
Its really hard to figure out what's best for me and if I am a good match for the school. I am primarily looking in Lower Midwest and Upper South but 'cities with direct flights to/from Louisville' are still on the radar too. Its been challenge and fun.
See my original statement below:
My calling is education. My maternal great-grandmother and my paternal grandfather were teachers. My Oldest brother is a teacher too. I work hard but I work harder to build up my friends and teammates.
My T&F goals are college sprints and jumps but I want to continue with these events plus add relays, the triple jump, and hurdles. I am very confident I have skill sets to move towards the Pentathlon and Heptathlon in college.
I love laughter, so I encourage my friends to find joy and purpose even in the hard times. We’ve enough hard times at my school and within my family.
What makes me different? I am the youngest of 7. I run for fun not for recognition. I want to win and do well but the fact I can do this brings me a lot of joy as others can’t. 3 of my siblings were All-State musicians and 2 were State Finalists in their Sports. I want to do this for my family and because I like the challenge of improving.
Thanks for reading! Emma
