My name is Mikyla Harkley, I was born and raised as a military child. When you define who I have become I am the true definition of versatile, cultured and adaptable. I have attended seven schools in six different states and am currently attending my junior and senior year in Italy at Aviano High School. Growing up as a military child I have had to adapt to new sport teams, adjust to different academic school requirements, make new friends, fit into diverse and not so diverse communities, taking on more responsibility when my father deploys and have better understanding of his absence. All of these obstacles taught me the skills and ability to adapt to new surroundings and continue to push myself to be the best version of me.
I currently hold a 4.4 GPA for fiscal year 2019-2020 and plan to take my SAT in the fall. I have competed on varsity track and field and have qualified for state since the 7th grade. My sophomore year I won triple jump for 2019 5ANew Mexico state track and field with a jump of 38ft 2in. Also, I am a team member of the Italian Atletica Brugnera Pordenone Friul Intagali track and field team and plan to compete with them at regional and national meets across Italy once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
