Hi Coaches! My name is Presley, I am from LaSalle, Ontario Canada, and have a passion for athletics and animals. My dream is to one day become a veterinarian operating my own practice. My goals are pretty straightforward; to work hard to improve myself every single day and to obtain a scholarship to continue in track and field at the collegiate level while I pursue a degree in biology.
I have been competing in track for just a few short years, picking up the heptathlon and most of those events in the past year. Before track I was a competitive Irish dancer and while I really enjoyed the strict routine of Irish dance and the high level of competitiveness I wanted to do something more team orientated to be part of something bigger.
After missing out on several track seasons due to COVID last spring my high school track and field coach suggested I try different events since I was only throwing the javelin. And, the rest is history. I now compete in 7 events as a heptathlete and some events individually. I am also part of the relay team. In my sophomore year, my coach pulled me up to the senior relay team and together we won bronze at OFSSAA (the highest meet for secondary athletics). I am currently ranked 4th overall in Ontario for the heptathlon and 17th in Canada.
I realize that I still have a lot to improve on but I am willing to work hard on and off the track to become the best possible student-athlete I can be. I train 5 days a week on the track and have started a lifting program 3 days a week to help me build muscle and improve explosiveness and technique. I believe that I would be a great addition to your team because I am dedicated to becoming a better athlete, work hard, set goals, and love being part of a team.
I love track and field; it is a big part of who I am, but I also enjoy many other activities. In school I am part of the student parliament, Relay for Life Fundraising committee, the basketball team, squash, ultimate frisbee, curling, and cross country teams. Outside of school, I work part-time at our family's ice cream parlour and I love spending time with my friends and family, including my two big dogs McKinley and Denali.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me I hope we get the opportunity to speak in person.
Presley
