Marissa Polio '22 Recruiting Profile

My college aspirations are to major in and study english literature and education as to teach High School english to the upcoming generations as they grow to learn the meaning behind the usage of a simple word in the text of a novel. I also look to minor in a creative writing program to help share my thoughts throughout novels and poems as a way to express who I am as a person and encourage others to feel comfortable with how they are and help to express their morals and aspirations. Outside of my academic teachings/learnings I also enjoy running. Running cross country and track have always been very important to me. I have run cross country since I was in the 7th grade and track ever since the 3rd grade. I remember joining track and seeing it as the absolute best sport in the world and then discovering at the end of my 6th grade year my coach encouraged me to run cross country.  I knew with my hard work and determination that I could face any and every challenge given to me by my coaches and teachers to help better myself as an athlete and a student.
