What makes me unique as both an athlete and a student is my competitive drive, and my endless energy. I have competed in a variety of sports and activities to include travel cheer, 5K's, a beauty pageant, and fund raising activities at school. I have also experienced success in academic achievements, to include making straight A's all the way through middle school, and maintaining good grades throughout high school. I have always wanted to be the very best person, athlete, and student I could be.
Running my first 5K in third grade was the beginning of my love for running. The more I competed in races, first in middle school and then in high school, the more I learned to love about running and competing at a high level. Competing at the high school level in both cross-country and track has required a lot of sacrifice. I decided to give up cheer, which I have been in since second grade, at the end of my sophomore year, so I could dedicate myself to running. My love of running has taught me many lessons I will use later in life. I have learned to be a leader through serving as co-captain of my high school's cross country team as a freshman. I have gained an understanding of how to handle victory, as well as defeat. I have also learned that recovery, hydration, and a good diet are just as important as working hard at practice and following my coaches' instructions.
