When it comes down to track and becoming a member of a track team, I don’t take any given moment while I’m on and off the team for granted. Each memory that’s created between the track team, the coaches, and myself becomes my family. I am one of the most selfless members on the track team at Lafayette High. Though I did suffer with illnesses and injuries, there was never a moment where I didn’t give more than 100% to score points or give my teammates a lead or a win. When I run and a thought of giving up crosses my mind, I think of my team, my coaches, my family, the crowd and remember that competing is way bigger than I am, that it’s not just for me, for the people that surround me, my supporters. Some people including my coaches find that I am a peace maker, a person with authority and and not afraid to speak up and stand out when it comes to doing the right thing. However, I am very religious, and my track family me Rev./Pastor/Preacher Lex because before each race, or before the meet begins, or the day of the meet, or the day of final exams or standardized testing I advocate vocally about God and his word. Though I may not be the smartest, I work hard on and off the field. With everything I do, I give it my all and more because I want to end my day off knowing that i tried my best at whatever I put my mind to rather than just blowing off each opportunity that I was blessed with to get better. In everything I do, it’s more than just a commitment, it’s more than just dedication, it’s more than just getting better, it’s about knowing that while I was still young, that i had fun when I was young in the midst of bettering myself with no regrets. I myself would bring the quality of being more than a team leader & player, but an encouraging supporter with a positive attitude & an ambitious mindset. I have the mindset of staying optimistic even when the odds are against me. There’s nothing that can get in my way that can stop me from doing what I need to do. My school mascot is a lion, so everyday before I compete i repeat to myself, Heart of a lion, mind of a champion, ambition of an artist, using my bible as my weapon, because no weapon formed against me shall prosper. I’m more than a conqueror, I’m someone that you can depend on, someone you can trust, someone that you know if you said jump, I’ll respond with how high. With all these qualities i bring to a my sense of humor, that will make a person crying sad tears into a person crying tears of laughter.
