Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Kyndal Sonnier. I currently attend Grand Lake High in Lake Charles, La, and previously attended Gregory-Portland High in Portland, Tx. Although this past year has presented many challenges to me including the pandemic, moving schools, and my area being impacted by two hurricanes, I have remained a very driven and disciplined student athlete. Over my high school career, I have faced both my lowest and highest moments, but I have learned there is growth in each.
Because track is both a personal and team sport, I understand the certain qualities that is needed for my own growth and success, as well as the team's. Through my training and determination I have developed into a valuable teammate who pushes not only myself, but also my teammates to accomplish their goals. I have found that a great relationship among coaches and teammates, that is filled with respect and encouragement, is the most rewarding and I would love to experience on the collegiate level. I also pride myself in always putting in every effort in all that I do. I hold myself to a high standard and set personal goals for myself, on and off the track. I have maintained excellent grades with 3.78 GPA, as of the first semester of my senior year, while also focusing on my training and work. I am a very coachable athlete who is always looking for new ways to improve my running, and I know that can be a great contribution onto any team.
