I am Mya Sirois, a senior at Monmouth Academy. I have been participating in track and field for Monmouth Academy since eighth grade, but have only had a total of three seasons. My junior year season was cancelled due to COVID, and I am yet to have my senior season. 100m hurdles has always been my main event, and although I didn't have a season last year, I did very well in the event my first two years competing at a high school level. My freshman year I qualified for states and came third overall with a time of 16.81. My sophomore year I came in first place at the Mountain Valley Conference for 100m hurdles and long jump. I proceeded to qualify for states that year and place fourth in the 100m hurdles. I would love to compete at the college level because good competition helps me work harder and be the best athlete possible. I have a strong dedication to the sport and becoming better at my event because in today's world due to COVID, any race could be my last.
