I began participating in Track and Field in sixth grade because a teacher inspired me. This teacher was the coach for Cross Country and Track and he was phenomenal. He had a true passion for the sport that rubbed off on his athletes. He had a rigid workout schedule for us, yet he encouraged and inspired us to do our best. As a result, my team won the Championship every year.
I love Track both for its individual events and team events. I like to try new events such as the javelin and other field events. I find the ability to choose what events I want to run empowering. Though I love the independence of the individual events, I also love the relays. I run the 4x400 relay and some of my best moments have been running the anchor position for my team. I love the energy and the close-knit relationship of the relay and have found that I look forward to that in meets.
I hope to find a college that is a good fit for my interests. I would like to run Track in college, but I also wish to be challenged in the classroom. A sound mind and a sound body is key to success and I hope my college experience reflects this.
