I have been competing in track since 5th grade and noticed the jumping events came pretty easy to me. During middle school I switched over to mainly all the jumping events with one relay (which ever the one the coach needed me in). I generally came in first place for all my meets through the season. For both 7th and 8th grade I qualified for all 4 of my events and competed in the state meet for 4 events. Thats when I knew track was my sport, because most of my teammates either didn't qualify or only qualified for one event. I was able to take first place in both 100 meter hurdles and High jump. I took second place in triple. I moved on to high school and was sort of on my own with no real guidance or coaching . But new what I was comfortable with and what I was good at. As a freshman I came in 2nd place for both 100 meter hurdles and high jump, 6th for triple during the KVAC's. I also helped our relay come in first place helping our team win that meet. I moved on to the state championship. I took 4th in high jump and 7th in triple, I did not place for hurdles. But was able to move on to the New England Championship meet for high jump, I came in 8th. At that point, I was so excited for my sophomore year and really see what I could do. The coaches now noticed me and were excited to work with me. Then covid.... no season for us. My junior year, I moved schools. But quickly got recognition. I broke the school record for triple and trying for high jump. I went to the sate meet and got 2nd place for high jump. Our relay came in first for both 4x100 and 4x400. We did not have a full season nor the New England meet so I cannot wait for next season. I have been working with a trainer, which I have never done before and the coach at my new school is very helpful and excited to help me beat my PR in all my events. He said he can tell that I have so much more to give, which I plan on doing. I unfortunately lost one whole season but plan on coming out strong for my senior year. I really want to keep competing in college and see where I can go with the right coach!
