Hello, my name is Grace Bauer. I am a Junior and I am very devoted to my sport. This will be my third year competing in my schools varsity team. On and off the track I am always ready for something new and I am willing to try new things. I go up against some of the best girls in my state. I'm very grateful to be apart of that experience because I get to meet new people and grow as a runner. My love for this sport started in 6th grade when I was a part of my first 5k. Although I wasn't aware at the time, everyone told me that I should do track and that I would love it. I started off with running cross country going into my freshman year. The biggest obstacle that I faced was getting into the mental state of running which was really a hard thing for me. By the end of the season, I was keeping up with my fellow teammates and I was very proud of my times as well as myself. Getting my varsity letter as a freshman during my first cross country season was something that I will never forget. As soon as my school posted the sign-ups for indoor track, I signed up right away. My season started off great with my first meet on December 18th. At first, I was nervous. When I got up to my lane for the first time, I knew that I was ready. I was so proud when I finished. I had just broken the freshman record for my school the first meet of the season, which later led to me going to regionals and states. I knew that from then on I was going to work on and off the field to keep improving and break my own record. I know that I am just getting started and I have a lot of room to grow. With great coaching and a lot of hard work, I feel that I can continue to succeed as a competitive runner.
Off the field, you can find me on the farm, living my dream of one day working with animals. One way that I am working towards that goal is through the large animal science program at my high school. This magnet program opens up many opportunities for me to fulfill my dream and gain experience. I also love volunteering and being able to know that I can help and make people and/or animals happy. Many people would describe me as responsible, hard-working, confident, loving, determined, and strong. My goal is to keep improving and be the best that I can be on and off the field. I want to be able to pursue my dreams, but also be able to run and enjoy the sport that truly makes me happy. In college, I plan on following my dreams of working with animals while running and improving track, meeting new people, and opening up new doors of opportunities. I am looking forward to being able to achieve my dreams by being involved in two things that are very important to me, running and working with animals
