Hi there! I'm Hannah Link, a senior at Merrimack College graduating in December of 2020. I am graduating in the honors program with a double concentration in Marketing and Corporate Finance and currently have a GPA of 3.77. Since I have two years of eligibility left due to the lost COVID season and since I have the opportunity to graduate early from undergrad, I have decided to make the absolute best out of an unprecedented situation and pursue my masters degree while still competing. This was a very difficult decision since I loved the organizations I was involved in at Merrimack and I loved being captain of my team, but I am beyond excited to join a new team as I pursue my MBA. This extra year gives me plenty of time to train hammer and continue getting work experience so I can be totally prepared for MBA level courses. This summer, I was a marketing intern at Hologic, a global medical device company, but got promoted after one month and am now a core team member where I am leading the charge on new product developments. I will continue working here throughout the fall as I finish up my online classes/continue training.
In regards to my hammer training specifically, I have made tremendous progress the past year. I started throwing hammer about a year ago, have only started to three turn since this spring, and am already consistently throwing 45m-50m in practice throws, without having peaked yet. I have been training with a private coach who has trained countless olympians, and few weeks ago I threw 47.38 meters in a USATF sanctioned meet. I will be continuing to train every day and attend these meets which occur every two weeks, so I am excited to see how I continue to progress. I am on a 4-day a week lifting program, sprinting 2-3 times a week, and throwing 5-6 times a week.
Fun fact - I was actually was recruited to Merrimack as a sprinter, which is why it took me a few years to switch to throwing, but the speed I have from sprinting is what gives me so much potential in the hammer throw.
I am a highly competitive and hardworking person and I believe this shows through my academics, leadership positions, promotions at work, and the progress I've made with hammer, a relatively new event to me. I have added ten meters to my throw in just a few months because I took advantage of the free time quarantine has granted me, but I have not nearly reached my peak. I would be so grateful to have a conversation with you about academic and athletic opportunities at your university.
I will be applying to graduate schools within the next few months and am excited to talk to coaches as I go through this process. I can also be found in the NCAA Transfer Portal.
If any references are needed (from my coaches, a professor, or my manager) please feel free to contact me and I can forward those along.
Thank you for viewing my profile. Have a wonderful day!
