Personal Statement

I have run varsity cross country since I was in 6th grade, and have been the top runner for my team since eigth grade. I am passionate about running and never stop talking about it! I am always looking for new ways to improve my training, keep a training journal, and work closely with my coach to fine tune my workouts and discuss race strategy. I ran 521 miles this summer and went to three weeks of running camp.  I do core every day, and occasionally double workouts when my coach allows it. I have a wholistic view of running, and nutrition, cross training (mostly biking and weights), and mental preparation are essential parts of my training routine. I always work my hardest in workouts, and try my hardest to never miss practice. One goal for college running is break 18 in the 5k! I would love to be a part of a team where I am surronded by people who love running as much as I do, and where I can contribute and build strong relationships with my teammates.  My general philosophy on running can be summed up by my favorite Steven Prefontaine quote,  "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift". I love running because I find great satisfaction in setting high goals and working my hardest to achieve them. One thing that sets me apart from other athletes is my consistent improvement. There has never been a Track or Cross Country season in which I have not PRed. I have never been injured, which I largely attribute to my coach's smart training plans and my strengthening and stretching routines. My proudest race of my running career was when I broke 19 minutes in the 5k this October (2017). That was one of my long-term goals from over a year ago, and having taken my coach's advice and worked on evening out my mile splits, I finally achieved it. In short, I am a passionate runner who will work my hardest to improve, take coach's advice, and contribute as much as I can to your team.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
