I began running varsity track during my freshman year of high school when I decided that I wanted a way to stay in shape. Previously that year, I had played volleyball and basketball but I quickly realized that track was an entirely different atmosphere. Track challenged me and pushed me, allowing me to accomplish things I never believed I could do. The sport instantly became my happy place and was extremely therapeutic as I was always looking forward to the practices. The next year, I decided to run both indoor track and outdoor track where my events varied from the 1000 meters to the 200 meters. Although I ran an assortment of events, the 400 meters was my favorite and I was committed to improving my times. The feeling of hitting a new PR after weeks of hard work is unexplainable and being able to celebrate with my loved ones and teammates is so rewarding. Going into my junior year, I will be Legacy Captain and will have the opportunity to share my advice and love for track and field with others on the team.
My academics have always played a significant role in my life. My parents have constantly pushed me to be a dedicated and organized individual to be successful. I maintained high honors in both my freshman and sophomore year while still being in multiple clubs and playing sports all three school seasons. I strive to continue to improve through the rest of my high school career and into college.
It is important to me to find a school that values both academics and athletics, as I am hoping to go into pre-med. I am consistent and always put all of my effort into the things that I do. I will be able to bring my leadership, determination, and organization to a college team, and believe that I would be a great addition.
