Jynessa Larsen '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Jynessa Larsen. I am currently a senior in high school at Atlanta Community Schools. I am a multi-sport athlete, but my main focus is track and cross country. I joined track my sophomore year, and in turn fell in love with the sport and distance running in general. I also love being a part of the running community as a whole, as the majority is so supportive and pushes every runner to do their absolute best.

Though I am definitely not the fastest runner out there, I have made it my goal to be the best that I can possibly be. I enjoy working hard and seeing results from my efforts. I love pushing myself physically and mentally, all while doing my best to keep a positive attitude. I do my best to always encourage my teammates, because even though running can sometimes be viewed as an "individual sport", I believe that teamwork and unity still plays an extremely important role in the success of the team. 

During cross country season, I dealt with an extremely frustrating injury, which kept me from reaching lots of the goals I had set for myself. However, I have learned to keep a positive mindset even when a season doesn't go how I planned. I am ready to put everything out there on the track this spring and continue to set goals and crush some PRs. And I am really hoping to continue my running career in college, so I can keep pursuing my goals all while contributing to a team.

As for academics, I try and do my best in every class, because I know that consistency and hard work is just as important in academics as it is in athletics. Some of my academic achievements include being on the Honor Roll and Honor Guard. My favorite subject is probably English as I enjoy writing, poetry, and expressing myself through different forms of text.
