Hello! My name is Ava Maginity. Running has been a passion in life for me since I was a child. Growing up watching my brothers compete, I have had the desire to run competitively and have lead my Middle school and High School teams in both Cross Country and Track since the 5th Grade. I am a self motivated athlete. I take my training very seriously and spend countless hours at the track and on the trails both on and off season. I pride myself on being a diversified athlete playing Varsity Basketball, and dual sporting in the spring competing in Track and Varsity Soccer. I believe being a multisport athlete makes me more dynamic. I take pride in the ability to balance training and competition as well as academics. I work very hard in the classroom and seek to accel as a student first.
My greatest desire is to continue my running career at the Collegiate level after graduation. I am a solid distance runner but also have recently competed in middle distance and some sprints. I am a very coachable athlete and believe I would be a valuable teammate. I am always looking for more ways to be successful in lowering my times and supporting my team. I am hardwired to compete. There is no quit in me - I always give 110%. I am very driven and any of my Coaches will tell you I am one of the hardest working athletes that they have worked with. I have been blessed to have competed at the State Championships for Cross Country the past three years and last year I qualified for the State Championships in Track in three separate events. Also last year, my Varsity Soccer team made a run for the State Finals in which we ended up being the D3 State Runner-up Champions.
I feel that I am different than most athletes by being a positive person that stays cool under pressure. I never let my emotions get the better of me and I always leave it all out there on the track/course. You can be guaranteed that I will come through in a pinch and be very calculated and smart about my races. I know how to balance my academics with my athletics and I love to try new things. I discovered I was a very competitive 200meter sprinter during track season and actually qualified for the State Championships in that event along with the 400meter and the 1600meter.
Running is not the only thing I wish to pursue in College. I plan on studying exercise science and then continuing my educational adventure in grad school to become a Physical Therapist. I have a strong interest in the biological sciences and all health related fields.
Feel free to contact me personally with any questions. I would love to share my talents and my enthusiasm with you!
