I began running when my 8th grade track coach asked me to compete in the 3200m. I found I was better at the distance runs than sprinting and by the end of the season I had broken our middle school record for the 1500m and 3200m runs. I ran Varsity Cross Country for the first time my freshman year and it quickly became my favorite sport. In 2019 as a freshman I received my team MVP award as well as the Coach’s award for my JV basketball team. Although track season in Michigan was canceled my freshman year due to COVID I kept running to stay in shape for this year’s cross country season. I was able to PR and qualify for states this year, along with receiving another team MVP award. My PR at Regionals was 21:43, which placed me #5 on my school’s Top 10 Record Board. The last time a girl was added to the board was 2011. My coaches have told me they appreciate my positive attitude and ability to motivate my teammates to be positive. I have a strong work ethic in both my school work and sports activities. I am excited about the possibility of running at the college level while advancing my education.
