I come from a family of vaulters and they have led me to where I am today. From my grandpa, to my uncle, to my dad, they have all held and broke each other’s records at their high school. This tradition has now passed down to me being the first girl vaulter in the family and even my little brother as a junior high record holder. I broke our high school record as a sophomore and plan to keep raising the bar. I give my everything in this sport including doing strength training year round. This sport doesn‘t just challenge me physically but mentally as well, so strength training is an important part of how I prepare myself and learning to stay positive plays an equally important role with how successful I am. My strengths in pole vaulting are my speed, strength, and plant.
**UPDATE** My family purchased backyard mats for us to work on. So far, I’ve been working on jumping on a 13’ 150lb pole, trying to collapse my elbow, and rolling back on my shoulders during the swing as seen in my video, “Brooke’s Backyard Vaulting Practice.” Please follow my Instagram page, @malloy_vault to watch my weekly training videos.
Being able to compete in college while obtaining my degree is my ultimate goal. I’m looking for a school that can help me grow both academically and athletically.
