My aspiration is to run on a college cross country and track team. On my high-school cross country team I am the second girl on the varsity team and I have learned how much I enjoy being part of a team. I am proud of the contribution I can make to the team and the satisfaction I get from running with my teammates, many of whom are my friends. While training runs can be challenging, I have experienced the great feeling of setting a new PR and even winning a race. I am currently only 14 years old and just getting ready to start my sophomore year. My PR for the 3200 in track 12:00. I ran the 1600 in 5:48. In cross country (5k) I ran a 20:32 on a tough course. Running in general has become an important part of my life and I know it makes a big difference to my success with academics and the overall quality of my life. Academically, I maintain a 3.9 GPA and I am interested in studying literature with the goal of a career in publishing as an adult. My goal for cross country in high school is to be one of the top 25 female runners in the state by my senior year. I plan to run under a 4:45 in the mile and 10:45 in the 3200 by my senior year. My father coaches me in the off season and he inspires me because he was the third runner on the Division One New York State Chamionship team his senior year in high school. My high school coach is also a great distance runner and he trains with our team. I look forward to the opportunity to experience continued success and contribute to my high school team as I identify a college to run for in the coming years.
