My name is, Cenae Smiley, I began running track in the 6th grade and it quickly became a passion of mine. When I started running track in 6th grade, I was nervous due to the uncertainty of the sport and what my abilities were. I began my track career by running the 70m, 100m, 200m, and 400m Relay. At first, the 200m dash was my least favorite event as I typically would jog the turns and sprint the straight away. However, as I progressed through my 6th grade year, my coach pushed me to be better than I currently was. Coach Cam invited me to run AAU track for his club that summer and train immediately following my Middle School season. During the training for summer AAU, I wanted to focus on improving my 200m time. Throughout the summer training and AAU meets, I ran PR’s at my last meet of 6th grade year with an FAT in the 200m of 27.68 and an FAT in the 100m of 13.57. My 7th grade season was canceled due to the global Covid-19 pandemic but I am eagerly looking forward to my upcoming 8th grade season to continue my progression as a sprinter.
I am an extremely coachable athlete who wants to improve. I believe that through hard work and consistency, I can achieve the highest level of athletic performance possible for me. If I keep working for success and stay focused I know I can be phenomenal. My goal is to run Division 1 Track and Field then eventually qualify for the US Olympic Track and Field Team. Thank you for your time and consideration
