The first five years of my throwing career (elementary-junior high) were primarily self-taught. For lack of a stable coach, I would say I am doing well, though maybe in need of some catching up. My freshman year of high school, I actually was given the chance to have a throwing coach, who also introduced me to discus at the time. Since then, I have received many awards/accomplisments due to throwing. My sophomore year, as a Division 4 high school athlete, I placed second in my region, sending me to states for both discus and shot put; there I made all-state for shot put. Last year, as a Junior in a now Division 3 high school, placed third in my region for shot put and first for discus, along with second for the 4x100 meter relay, once again sending me to states (this time for the 4x100 and discus). And in order to improve my abilities, and to make a good Senior Year, I am recieving private training from the TC Central throwing coach this summer. In addition, I am going to the gym more often than I ever have.
So there's my story, a bit longer than I intended. I would say I'm a good candidate because I am a very driven and dedicated athlete. I am competitive and willing to put in the work that is needed. I am very versatile and well-rounded; I am a thrower, a sprinter, a singer, a reader/writer, dual-enrollment with NMC, and all while continuing to keep up a 4.0 GPA. My coach has said I make a great team captain, and he wishes to see me continue on my track career out of high school. Please give me that chance.
