Running subsections in 8th grade for track was a huge turning point in my running career. I liked running to a certain extent but never really was able to enjoy it. There were times when I wanted to quit because I was not very good and I never thought I would get much better, but I never quit. When my coach asked me if I wanted to run subsections it was like a switch inside of me turned on and that is when I realized I could do great things if I kept running. That experience has taught me that even if you cant do something right away it doesn't mean you should give up because with some hardwork and determination you can accomplish anything. That is when my running career really took off.
Not only am I a student-athlete but I am also a regular volunteer at my church, part of the Minnesota Honor Society and one of the captains on the XC team. Volunteering at church has taught me how to work with adults and children. Being a captain I have learned how to solve problems and have learned many leadership skills. I am very hardworking and dedicated to everything I am involved in. Nothing has really come easy for me so I have always had to work hard for everything I have. I always strive to be the best I can be and do not give up easily.
