Celia Cole '22 Recruiting Profile

I have never been the biggest or strongest athlete on any track, course, field, or court in which I’ve participated. What I will say is that I have never accepted the possibility that someone else will outwork me. This characteristic can be traced to my Finnish heritage and described by a word that has meant a great deal to my family. That word is “Sisu” and it doesn’t translate well into English. Basically, it is a Finnish quality that describes how a person calls upon an inner reserve of resilience, endurance, and tenacity. It has become a word that I use in all areas of my life.

My freshman year opened my eyes and I realized that I had an absolute love for running! I made vast improvements in all three of my sports that year, but especially in track. I also realized that I had a desire to continue my running career after high school. It has become a major part of my personality. I see myself as a runner.

I’m looking for a program that will give me the opportunity to continue doing what I love but also pushes me to grow as an athlete and student. I hope to find a school with a good academic reputation, specifically in Arts and English Departments. I have a very strong will to improve and succeed. That “Sisu” mentality describes why I believe that I would be a great fit for any team.
