I had never competed in running competitively until my freshman year of high school. I thought I would not be good at it, and I did not even want to try it until my mother asked me to do cross country for just one year. Four years later, here I am as an aspiring collegiate track and cross country athlete. I am excited to see what the future has in store for me performing at the next level.
I have been declared a natural athlete from a young age, often commended by my various athletic coaches for my sheer grit, determination, talent, and team spirit. I assumed the role of a leader on both the track and cross country teams my sophomore year. Since then, I have been a font of information to younger athletes and a medium between our head coach and them.
My successes are prevalent not only on the track or course, but also in the classroom and community. I am currently in the running for valedictorian in the Class of 2025 by taking AP classes and honor courses. I am an active Student Ambassador, NHS member, essay winner, and leader of my Catholic youth group, Vincentian Marian Youth SEMO. I have participated in a mission trip called Operation Overhaul for three years in a row serving the homeless and needy, and I have volunteered annually at the Totus Tuus program for children in grades K-6.
I desire to continue my successes at a college that will push me to be the best I can possibly be. I want to join highly competitive, tight-knit track and cross country teams that love running just as much as I do. I hope that with the right schooling and coaching, I will break down athletic and academic walls beyond my wildest dreams.
