When I began track my freshman year in high school I wasn’t exactly thrilled about it. It was not until the District track meet where I jumped 5’ that I realized track and field is something I would like to pursue in the future. Being able to qualify for the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships as a freshman was beyond exciting and sparked my interest in the sport. Track has taught me independence, responsibility, and the aspect to work well with others have made me apart of who I am. From this sport I have learned you need to work hard and always do everything to the best of your ability, in and outside of sports. I am coach-able and accept any constructive criticism from coaches and other athletes. I strive to become better in everything I do, both athletically and academically. Academically I strive to maintain a 3.4 GPA or higher. Track & Field has made me stronger, mentally and physically. It has taught me that in order to be successful you have to work harder than everyone else. Track has prepared me for both failure and success. It has shown me that even when I may not do as good as I hoped, there is still tomorrow to try and do better. It has taught me sportsmanship, and teamwork and pushes me to perform at my very best.
