From as early as elementary school I recall outrunning most students in my grade. When I turned 10, I signed up for track and field out of curiosity, and at that point, running became something I really enjoyed. This passion is one I have carried through to this very day, and it has transformed my personal and athletic development into something beyond what I expected. My dedication to health, academics, and learning allows me to remain a well-rounded individual and fosters my passion for these fields.
I have won multiple events, including being nominated for Cross Country Athlete of the Year in New Brunswick in 2023, and I placed 3rd at the provincial cross-country championship. My achievements also include winning the regional cross-country championships three times, becoming my school’s first cross-country provincial champion in 2022, and finishing as runner-up in 2023. I’ve earned Athlete of the Year for two consecutive years at my school, along with Most Useful Player awards.
To ensure I am prepared for the next step, I am collaborating with a renowned nutritionist Lauren Antonucci, who is optimizing my nutrition, as well as an IMG mental coach for mental toughness development. As I remain interested in sharpening my mental edge, I have read books focusing on mental performance since, in my opinion, competing is 90% mental and 10% physical.
Apart from sports, my particular interest in healthcare has greatly influenced my life as well as my studies. One of my close family members had a medical condition, which meant that I spent a lot of time in the hospital and to say that I was mesmerized by the inner workings of the hospital would be an understatement – the incredible way health care professionals could impact the lives of patients, and their families was fascinating to me. This realization prompted me to start and lead an after-school all-girls STEM club. I also volunteer at a nearby hospital and intern with professionals in the field. I am currently in the process of obtaining a CPR certificate which will allow me to instruct others how to perform these vital techniques.
Looking to the future I aim to combine sports and healthcare at a collegiate level. I am confident that my commitment, leadership, and work ethic would allow me to positively contribute to your program, and I am excited for the opportunity to pursue my long-term goals in the classroom and on the track.
