When I first began running Cross Country, it was only because my schedule allowed it and I wanted to do something to help me condition. I did not think that it would amount to anything. In the beginning, it was only for fun and a test to see if I would be any good, but I fell in love with the sport. When I entered high school, I not only began to love chasing the highs of getting a personal record or running a great race, but I began to really better myself as an athlete. I learn from the mistakes I make and constantly work to make sure they never happen again.
My freshman year, I had a strong and tight knit team, but after many seniors graduated, I was left as the only sophomore to pick up the pieces and build up a team that was better than ever, with me as captain. I believe that in this time I have grown the most as a student athlete. I do realize that I have much more room to grow. I have also learned the importance of time management, I never realized the amount of dedication it takes to give 100% to both my team and my academics. During these last two years, I have had to work hard for myself, but I have also worked hard for my team. I believe that I have the athletic capability to compete for a team at the college level and I am looking to find a school that is a match for me both athletically and academically. I have the work ethic and the dedication to help any team succeed.
