My aspirations in life are to graduate from a 4-year college and excel academically in the major of either Animal Science or Health and Science. I intend to become a physical therapist/ trainer. My track goal is to run professionally for the Team USA, participate in philanthropy, travel the world, and experience different cultures. Track has been my passion since I was 11, not just something to do in my free time. I sacrificed participating in other sports to focus on my track dreams.
I would be a great candidate for collegiate teams because I bring leadership and know the value of team bonding. Not only would you be adding a talented runner, but someone who believes teamwork is a key ingredient to success. I also feel I have collegiate level talent and have the potential to be great given the opportunity to work with right coaches, learn more about technique, and involve myself in the right workouts. Over the years my times have progressed regularly, showing I am a hard worker.
I bring several unique qualities that are different from other recruits. One being that I truly recognize the importance of academics and believe strongly that education comes before sports. Many other recruits may say that they are leaders, but I have been given the rare opportunity by my coach to lead my team since my Freshmen Yr. I am a peacemaker, a humorous teammate, one of the biggest cheerleaders for my teammates in both school and on the track in order to be supportive. Lastly, I use my disappointments to fuel my fire and competitive spirit. I always try to change negative energy into positive energy giving me hunger and drive to continue getting better.
As you may know, we are currently experiencing the Covid-19 pandemic and it has affected my Junior Yr. significantly. So far I have only been given one chance to take the SAT since it was cancelled for this past May. This public health crisis has also cancelled the most important track season of high school for me. It has been highly disappointing because my coaches and I were looking forward to my ending spring season running a 55 in the 400m and a 23 in the 200m to help secure recruiting attention and scholarships. My current PR’s are from my Sophomore year.
I have not let these unfortunate circumstances stop me and I continue to go to my local track and work hard everyday. This is the same type of attitude I will bring to my school work and track team. I am determined to be a success and refuse to let anything stop me.
