My love for running started at an early age when I joined Girls on the Run at my school, and I realized this sport was something that I wanted to pursue. The summer following my time at Girls on the Run, I regularly ran 5Ks with my mom, and I would train every single day for the next couple of years. In eighth grade, my school didn't have a track team, so I joined one a couple of towns over with athletes that I didn't know. I ran the 800 and the 1600 in small meets where my speed was discovered for the 800m. Entering high school, I didn't know any of the kids on my team even though they all knew each other. High school was really hard at first, especially taking multiple honors classes, but after I began to grow closer to my teammates and keep up with the varsity seniors, everything improved. As my high school career continued, I started taking more and more honors and AP classes, and began to balance this along with work and running. After a difficult cross country season due to COVID, I exceled during the track season of my sophomore year and set a personal record in the 800 by over twenty seconds. I began to focus on the 800, and have continued to ever since and I'm excited to improve upon my time this spring season. This work ethic for my academics and athletics will follow me into my college years.
