Hello, my name is Vanessa Olveda, I'm from Espanola New Mexico. I'm a sophomore at Espanola Valley High School, and I also attend Northern New Mexico College. I'm an excellent student, my grades are great and I take college classes. I think I'm a good candidate for a team because I'm a good runner and I don't give up even when it gets hard. By my middle school year I was running high school level track and field as well as cross country. I was able to run a mile in less than 7 minutes. During practice we run in the cold which helps us. The weather shouldn't affect anyone, it's crazy that I have ran in snow, rain, mud, rocks, these things have built up my strength. I have a fast recovery on breathing! I have had a couple injuries which caused me not to run but I healed through them and I'm in the process of gaining that strength back! I think I'm different because most recruits focus on beating other people, don't get me wrong so do I, but what I'm shooting for is my time. I want to beat my previous times, I want to be better, faster, and stronger! My goal as a candidate is to not give up and accomplish my goals with the help of my coaches!
