Hello! My name is Brooke Caldwell, and I am a rising senior at Ursuline Academy. I run the 100, 200, and the corresponding relays. During my sophomore year (2019), my 4x200 relay team advanced to the OHSAA Division I District Finals and got 6th place. During my junior year (2020), I competed in the NSAF x Athletic.Net Virtual Nationals Meet and advanced to the 200 meter finals, coming in at 16th place out of 32 participants. I want to obtain a bachelor's degree in nursing and then a degree in forensic nursing; I also want to run track in college while still participating in campus activities.
After the first few track meets in kindergarten, track season became my favorite season of the year. While it is fun, I am serious about it. I always make an effort to attend as many practices and conditioning sessions as possible, train during the off-season and pre-season by myself or with personal trainers, and compete in virtual track meets during the pandemic. In addition to this, I achieve new personal bests in my events each season. I believe that these efforts prove that I am a passionate, dedicated, and hardworking athlete.
What is more important to me than being the best athlete I can be is being the best teammate I can be. As being one of the oldest and experienced sprinters on my team, I know that other people are watching what I do and will follow it. Over the years, I have learned that a good attitude is integral to having the best experience in track, and I try to cultivate that. I make an effort to know everybody on my team and cheer for my teammates at meets during every event. In addition to this, I encourage my teammates during workouts and I never complain during meets or practices.
I take multiple honors and AP courses and am a member of the National Honors Society. I am also an active participant in peer leadership clubs and opportunities at Ursuline as well as an active volunteer at a horse-riding center for individuals with disabilities. I strive for balance in my life between school, track, and my other extracurricular activities.
