Hello! My name is Maddi and I am currently a 11th grade student at Mentor High School in Mentor Ohio. I started running in middle school as a way to condition for swim team but I instantly fell in love with running and decided to quit swimming to pursue running full time after my freshman year. I was not very fast in middle school or my freshman year, despite consistent hard work, but during the pandemic while most teammates took a break from running, I dedicated my time to training for cross country and track. In that time frame I was able to drop almost eight minutes off of my first highschool 5k and I was able to move up from the bottom of the jv team to the middle of my varsity team. Now as a junior I am at the top of the varsity team and I am looking forward to the next step of running at the collegiate level! I am very dedicated to running and I truly enjoy the team atmosphere. I always put my full effort and I constantly look for new ways to improve my skills to become a better runner. I am different than other recruits because I am willing to put in the work when no one else will, both athletically and academically, and I know I am physically and mentally strong enough to handle what it takes to get through the difficulties of running as well as being a college student.
