Hello, my name is Tina Varis. I run in track and cross country and started running track in the seventh grade. Due to COVID occurring my eighth grade year I was unable to have a track season. Before COVID I was an avid soccer player, and this time period caused me to grow my love of running and ultimately switch sports my freshman year after a great track season with my teammates. Sophomore year was my first season of cross country. I made the varsity and was able to be a part of my team going to regionals. I am looking forward to the upcoming season and hope to push myself and my teammates as we fight to win a spot at states. I have already learned so much in the few short years I have ran, and would love to be able to apply these skills on a collegiate level. Through these shorts years I have experienced failure, and not performing my best but it only made the feeling of succeeding so much more valuable and taught me the importance of learning from your mistakes in order to grow.
Academically, I have maintained over a 4.00 while still being able to perform well athletically, and socially. I have taken numerous AP and Honors classes throughout high school. Additionally, I volunteer at running camps for young kids (GORun),Fairytale foundation a non profit, as well as working at a local theater. I am interested in pursuing the sciences during college, which may include jobs like a environmental scientist, or taking part in research programs that help with conservation or rehabilitation of animals and habitat.
Thank you for considering my profile as a potential match with your program, hope you have a nice day.
