As I am only a highschool sophomore, I've had many events that have influenced me to continue running at the collegiate level. I started running when I was 8 years old on the community YMCA cross country team. During my time as a runner in grade school, I competed at the local, state, and national level. I look back on this time as such a young runner just doing what I loved to do but I was also developing the necessary tools to stay focused, hard work, and determination to succeed. As high school approached, being challenged with a new level of runners and bigger schools, my focus as being the best student-athlete I could possibly be became the priority. My freshman season in 2018, as a team we qualified for the Ohio State Cross Country meet but this 2019 season we fell short. Through the personal disappointment of the not qualifying this was also was a learning opportunity teaching me to have to stay focused, not to take any race for granted, and to work hard everyday in and out of practice. Suffering an injury in the middle of my sophomore season that haulted my running for a short time as rest was the best medicine. Rest is easier said than done. As the days continued of no running I had to find a way to keep working out. This is when I started to do pool workouts to stay at the same running level and complete the season as strong as possible. As a student-athlete my education has been a priority as being a student is the most important part of being a student-athlete. I plan to achieve a honors dipolma in high school. The curriculum for the honors dipolma has taught me hard work, focus, and determination.
In closing, as I begin my journey to find the college right for me and my future plans in life I hope you consider me to join your Cross Country and Track and Field programs. I believe I would be great fit for your program as my determination to compete and succeed at the highest level both in academics and athletically is my highest priority. I am a hard worker that understands the sacrifices of a student-athlete by pushing myself to achieve the highest recognition possible.
