Hello! My name is Mira Matthews and I‘m looking to compete in track and field during college. This fall of 2020 I will be a senior at Marshfield High School. I am a very driven student who challenges herself in advanced classes. Some academic awards I have recieved include Honor roll, Principals list, and Outstanding attendance.
I play three sports in high school. During volleyball season my position is middle blocker/right side. In 2018 I received most improved player, most blocks, and most private spirit award. Swimming is another passion of mine besides track. Sophomore year I got to compete at state in our 400 yard freestyle relay. Junior year I competed in all four of my events (50 free, 100 free, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay). Placing 5th in my 50 free and 6th in my 100 free individual races at state. Awards I received in swimming include most inspirational and most valuable player. Last but certainly not least track & field. Freshman year I recieved most improved award. Sophomore year I was district champion in javelin and placed 2nd in discus. At state I placed 8th in javelin and 12th in discus. Sadly I was unable to compete junior year because of the global pandemic but that is going to make me work harder my senior year. Being a three sport athlete I have learned how to manage time for school and work under pressure. I believe I am a good candidate for any college team because I get along with others and I am very outgoing. I am willing to try new things. I am confident on and off the field. I strive to help my teammates and offer support. My goal is to bring my cheerful attitude where ever I go.
