I look forward to college and getting to further my education and graduate with a degree in the medical field. I’ve set myself up to be able to go into college with my associates degree through the AP classes I’ve taken along with courses over the summer through Rogue Community College.
My athletic journey has not been an easy one as I went through two surgeries to remove loose cartilage in my knees my sophomore year, and then a more extensive surgery after “violently dislocating” my knee towards the end of my junior track season. Even though surgery is not the funnest thing to go through it gave me a chance to reflect on what I really wanted to do, and it has driven me to tighten my work ethic and keep focus on the goals I set. Track and field has been my favorite sport and I plan to focus on the 200 and 400 this year, but my favorite event is triple jump, which due to my surgery I won’t compete in my senior season.
I make it my goal every morning to put pride and hard work into everything whether it’s my school work, volunteer work, or that days workout. Growing up my dad was always my coach, which wasn’t to fun as a kid when there was a two hour car ride home and I had to listen to all the things I had to work on, but I am greatful for all those car rides because it has given me a high IQ when analyzing sports, and the ability to critique my own form and quickly fix it.
