My name is Makayla Murphy and I am a 5'8" junior at Sutherlin High School in Sutherlin, OR. To be honest, last year was my first year participating in track and field and I enjoyed every minute participating. I have been playing volleyball since I was young, participating in both school and club seasons. To find a new love and passion for something outside that sport was both scary and exciting. What I loved the most about participating in a track and field program is the opportunity to better myself and skills and beat out my own personal records. My sophomore season I was dedicated to continually improve and reach new personal records which was rewarded by qualifying for Oregon 3A State Track meet with a Javelin Throw of 111 feet. I concluded my season as #7 in 3A Oregon State and our girls team for Sutherlin High School won 1st place in State for 3A. I am a very motivated and competitive person and excited this season to improve on where I left off last year with a new PR and invitation to state to compete.
