Hello! My name is Leia Day and I am a Junior at Hopewell High School.
As a track and field athlete, I am very hardworking and determined to meet my goals. I give my 100% effort at all meets and practices to improve individually as well as help my team. I am capable of competing in many events. At my High School, I compete/practice in long jump, high jump, 200m, 400m, 4x100m, 4x400m, and I even started to pole vault over the summer. As a freshman, I was a letterman, received the Scholar Athlete award and scored the 3rd highest amount of points on my team. I began participating in track and field in 7th grade and fell in love with the sport. My 8th grade year, I was the Pittsburgh Diocesan long jump champion. Ever since then, It has been my dream to compete at the collegiate level. Now, I will do whatever it takes to make my dream come true.
As a student, I am focused and driven to be successful. I take my classes and my grades very seriously. I am always determined to meet my academic goals and will do whatever it takes to do so. I believe I have a very good work ethic and leadership qualities that show in the classroom. I am an honors student and plan to take AP classes my Junior year. I am currently ranked 6th in my class, but I hope to eventually be even higher. I have received highest honors for all grading periods since beginning high school. As a reward for all of my efforts in the classroom, I have been inducted into the National Honors Society.
Outside of track and field and school work, I enjoy participating in many other things. I have been playing softball since I was 9 years old. As a freshman, I lettered for my high school team. I also play travel softball in the summer. For my travel team, as the lead off batter, I had a batting average of .449. I had 48 hits, with 2 home runs, 16 RBIs, scored 42 runs, and had 36 stolen bases. In addition to softball, I am also part of the Italian club. I am Editor- In-Chief of my school newspaper. I also love photography and started a business, Beautiful Day Photography Photos by Leia, to raise money for my upcoming trip to France and Italy with the Italian Club. I also love spending time with friends and family and supporting the other sports teams at my school.
I put 100% Into everything I do. I plan to work to the best of my abilities to meet my goals this track and field season. I would be honored if you would watch my progress throughout the season and I am looking forward to hopefully talking to you in the future.
Sincerely,
Leia Day, Class of 2022
