Personal Statement

Family can be a huge influence in a person’s life.  Both my grandparents and my mother have been wonderful teachers, coaches and administrators.  I have grown up around sports and athletics my entire life and tried almost every sport God invented.  Family exposure to college athletics has shown me a pathway for my life after high school. I want to be part of a team, compete for my college and share my skills as my family continues to watch me grow and learn.

From childhood gymnastics to high school track and field, I have been fortunate enough to compete and succeed in sports. Beginning my freshman year at Aquilla High School I began to high jump having never seen an actual jump or competition. After two seasons of UIL Class A competition, I have a State Championship title and a Silver Medal. Like most small school athletes, I have competed in almost every sport and started every volleyball match for two seasons, resulting in All District honors. Coaches have given me the opportunity to run hurdles and I have qualified for Regional levels. I would fit into a college athletic program because I can balance classwork and a regimented training program. I want to know what else I am capable of!

God has a pathway for all our lives.  My family has supported me throughout my athletic career.  I can think of nothing better than rewarding their support with the continued fun and excitement of college athletics.  My Mom was a college track athlete and it would be an honor to follow her pathway.  I am prepared to study and become an athletic trainer, physical therapist or coach.  I want to grow mentally and physically.  College athletics is a continuing pathway for my dreams and goals!  My strong faith and family support leaves my pathway wide open to God’s plan.
