DeVonn Bivens '20 Recruiting Profile

Hi! My name is DeVonn Bivens(c/o 2020)and I am a thrower at Mansfield Timberview High School. I currently compete in Shot Put and Discus and look forward to gaining experience in more throwing events such as the hammer and weight throw. For the past 6 years I’ve played volleyball on select teams and this summer I decided it was time to focus on throwing.

Throwing has opened my eyes, exposed my inner strengths, allowed me to connect with myself and has encouraged me to push through adversity. Throwing is something that I use to express myself. I love the idea of competing against myself and others yet at the same time earning points for my team. 

My love for throwing has flourished and my goal is to one day represent the USA at the Olympic Games. But first I want to attend college. I am searching for an University Track Program that has the following core beliefs:

•Our athletes are student-athletes. Beyond throwing I want to complete my Bachelors Degree and attend Physical Therapy school to obtain my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. 

•Go Hard, Get Better and Get Results-I desire to be pushed to be the best version of myself in all aspects of my life. I want to experience success in the ring but I want to be more to the program than the number of points I can possibly score in a meet.
